Rooted in the role of the meshorerim—those who traditionally stood around the ba’al tefillah (prayer leader) or cantor to uplift the sound and spirit of communal prayer—these groups become communities of practice: spaces to sing, reflect, give feedback, and grow together.
Each Meshorerim Collective is a Hadar Community Group, part of a national initiative where 8 or more people meet at least 8 times in person to build grassroots Jewish life through meaningful connection and shared experience.
Collectives receive up to $1,000 in funding as well as curated resources, training, and access to Joey Weisenberg’s learning library to support your journey.
Whether you're leading davening or offering your presence, harmony, and support, a Meshorerim Collective brings new energy to communal prayer. You’ll join a national network of preparing for the High Holidays with intention, skill, and heart.

We encourage groups to complete most or all of their 8 local in-person sessions by Yom Kippur, but your Collective can continue afterward if needed to reach the full 8+ meetings.
At this time, all Meshorerim Collectives are expected to meet in person.
Currently, Meshorerim Collectives outside the US and Canada are not eligible for funding. We encourage those who want to start groups abroad to apply, and receive full access to facilitator training, Hadar resources, and ongoing support.
The online course includes videos on the following subjects:
Through learning the nusach in these videos—and, crucially, by trying them in real life!—you can become a High Holiday prayer leader in your community or in the privacy of your home.
You will learn all of the major liturgy for Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, and be able to lead any of these services at a synagogue or prayer gathering of any size. Through Joey's teachings in this series, you will develop the aesthetic and spiritual sensitivity to both lead and step out of the way, empowering diverse groups of people to lift and transform their prayers into powerful, collective song.
